A heavenly place in Tuscany

In the beautiful and very historical Tuscany region of Lunigiana, right at the foot of the Apuan Alps, our romantic 10th century Relais offers a unique combination of nature and history. Surrounded by forests, with a fantastic view of the surrounding mountains of the Ligurian Apennines and very close to the port town of La Spezia and the world-famous, centuries-old coastal villages “Cinque Terre”, we offer you a place of peace and relaxation. The historical roots of our Relais go back over 1000 years. The first written documentation dates back to 998.

Right next to the “Via Francigena”, a pilgrim route that connected Canterbury with Rome and on which the then Archbishop of Canterbury, Sigeric the Serious, already pilgrimaged to Rome in 990, our romantic Relais is located.

Since 2019, this unique property has been owned by the Haas family, who wanted to preserve the old structures and complement them with great love for detail in order to meet today’s requirements.

We pamper your palate with the finest delicacies from the region. In the morning an extensive breakfast buffet with home-baked bread and selected products awaits you. And if you want to taste one of our wonderful Tuscan wines in the evening, we are happy to offer you the finest cheese, ham and salami.

The meaning of our Logo

The olive tree is a symbol of peace. And because it is so incredibly beautiful – with its lancet-shaped leaves shimmering silvery in the sunlight, supported by slender branches on a strong and gnarled trunk – Erich Kästner once wrote: “He has the blessing of silence” and “He can grow old. . . He is the patience that has become the image and the time that has become the image.”

We have chosen this beautiful description as a symbol for our Relais, because here in Pieve our guests should find a place of peace, serenity and beauty, where they can relax from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
